The New York Times has compiled a Top 20 list of the world's
most stylish homes, and the first place goes to mirrored houses made by ÖÖD in
Estonia.
"The New York Times has selected the 20 most stunning
holiday destinations in the world, with the extraordinary homes of Estonian
accommodation company ÖÖD Hötels coming out on top.
"Three walls are made of glass and mirrors, so you have
a stunning view when you lie in bed. Dreaming in this bed, watching the sunset
or the sunrise - it's something indescribable," he says.
Andres and his brother came up with the idea to build these houses in 2016. "At the time, all the apartments on Airbnb and Booking.com were huge, we wanted something small, cosy and intimate – and we realized we had to build it ourselves! We hadn't heard of the tiny houses movement, which is now very popular in the US and Scandinavia."
The original idea was to sell the mirrored houses so that
the new owners could put the building where they want to.
"Almost every year the number of hotels doubles and today there are already 28 houses on the ÖÖD Hötels platform (oodhotels.com). ÖÖD homes can be found deep in the forests of Estonia and by the sea, in the jungles of Mexico, in a US nature park and in other beautiful natural locations in Norway, Denmark and Belgium," says Gertrude Otts, the company's head of sales.
Otsa points out that this year the company is mainly planning to expand in Northern Europe and the USA. "The new mirror houses will be located in particularly beautiful locations such as near Helsinki, Reykjavik and London," she says.
