From 19 July, Vidzeme Market will resume evening trading. Night market trading will take place every Wednesday from 18.00 to 22.00.
However, to facilitate the accessibility of the market to customers, the opening hours will be extended and the area will be open from 7.00 to 20.00.
Local farmers and home producers will be selling seasonal vegetables, fruit and berries, plants and seedlings, various meat, fish and dairy products, beekeeping products and other farm produce. A DJ will provide music throughout the evening on Wednesday.
"The Riga Central Market has been a favourite night market for shoppers for many years, so we want to make good use of the Vidzeme Market area and give traders the opportunity to meet their customers here," says Dace Preisa, Public Relations Manager at Rīgas nami.
As the interest of traders and buyers grows, the number of evening trading days will be increased.
It has already been reported that since last year the market has been managed by the municipal capital company "Rīgas nami". The company is working to revitalise the Vidzeme Market area so that it can serve as a multifunctional place for trade, dining, culture, art and business. At the moment, the territory is already being landscaped and greened to make it more attractive to market visitors, giving them the opportunity not only to shop, but also to relax and spend their free time.
