Latvia’s Rundāle Palace Museum admitted to European Royal Residences Association

The Rundāle Palace Museum has been admitted to the European Royal Residences Association - the organization that brings together the most prominent residences of European rulers, including the Palace of Versailles near Paris, the Sanssouci Palace in Potsdam and Schönbrunn Palace in Vienna, informs Andra Jakoviča, a spokesperson for the Rundāle Palace Museum.

Participation in the organisation will open up opportunities for Rundāle Palace Museum to cooperate with some of Europe's most prominent and experienced palace museums. The organisation will promote cooperation in scientific work, the preservation and management of cultural heritage and the promotion of tourism.

The accession of Rundāle Palace Museum to the European Royal Residences Network proves that our cherished palace is equal to the most outstanding palaces in Europe, and it will certainly promote the recognition of Latvia not only among professionals, but also among cultural tourists. For the museum, it is above all a professional benefit. The organisation has 27 years of experience in promoting targeted cooperation between institutions managing a specific type of cultural monument - the former and current residences of rulers.

Its members share responsibility not only for preserving outstanding art collections, but also for maintaining architectural complexes and gardens. For the Rundāle Palace Museum, becoming an active member of the European Royal Residences Network will provide an opportunity to cooperate directly with similar institutions, to learn from best practice examples and to share its experience in solving common problems," Laura Lūse, Director of the Rundāle Palace Museum, highlights the benefits.
