Survey: 82% of drivers rank lowest price as the most important criterion for choosing a rental car


The most important criterion for choosing a rental car for the majority of people in management positions in Latvia, 82%, is the best price. This was revealed in a survey of the population conducted in March this year by EconomyBookings.com, a Booking Group Corporation platform.

In order to improve and diversify its services, Booking Group Corporation decided to ask people in leading positions for their views on the most important criteria for choosing a car and the most frequent reasons why people rent cars. 

The most important criterion for senior executives when choosing a rental car is price, cited by 82% of respondents, while the second most important factor influencing the choice is where to pick up and return the rental car, cited by 65%. It can therefore be concluded that those in managerial positions value not only the best price, but also the convenience offered.

Interestingly, the least important criteria for respondents when choosing a car rental service are the popularity of the booking site, expressed by only 6% of respondents, and the language of the website and customer support service are not very important, indicated by only 7% of executives. 

"Although the survey results show that website popularity and customer service languages are not important to respondents, we regularly invest in the development of our e-commerce platform EconomyBookings.com, which is one of the company's key strategic areas for improving customer service," says Alen Baibekov, Chairman of Booking Group Corporation, adding that maintaining an international website is unthinkable without multilingual customer service.  

"Booking Group Corporation also wanted to find out what executives most often use car rental services for outside Latvia. The majority of respondents, 72%, indicated that the reason for renting a car was for tourism and leisure trips. The second most popular answer in 30% of cases was for business trips. 

The results of the survey reveal an interesting trend that 10% of people in managerial positions do not use car rental outside Latvia at all, which means that they prefer other means of transport, such as public transport or taxis.

"We are aware that competitive and favourable pricing is a particularly important factor influencing booking volumes, which is why we are constantly establishing new partnerships with partners that offer the best conditions and promotions," says Alens Baibekovs, who adds that the company is currently working with more than 800 well-known car rental companies worldwide.
